The third and final trimester of my first pregnancy was relatively easy compared to the First Trimester where I was struck with morning (really day and night) sickness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I spent time preparing for he arrival of our new baby and labor and delivery for the first time (really, can you ever prepare for that?). There are several things I used in my last trimester and postpardum that really helped.
1. DIY Padsicles
What is a padsicle? It’s a pad soaked in witch hazel and then frozen. I learned about these from Pinterest and prepared some at home ahead of time for when we came back from the hospital. They really helped with soreness and they were so easy to make.
2. Thank You Cards + Gift Cards
I knew our birth experience would be really special and I wanted to be prepared with some note cards and gift cards for the nurses and doctors. I figured everyone likes a little something from Starbucks so I purchased a pack of gift cards to reward anyone that we really liked.
3. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Leg and Foot Creme, $11.46
The most troubling symptom I had in my third trimester was swollen feet and legs. At night my legs felt hot and tired and I was dying for some cooling relief. I applied Mama Bee Leg and Foot Creme all over my legs and feet and within seconds the peppermint soothed my legs and gave me instant relief. I looked forward to this all day long!
4. Postpardum Belly Band, $15.58
In my hospital bag I packed a postpardum belly band to help with swelling. The day after I delivered I put this on and wore it for about 2 weeks until all the swelling went down. I don’t know what my healing would have been like without it, but I think this really helped!
