Did you know you can add someone to your Showit account without having to share your account login? It’s called adding a “Contributor” and it’s an easy way to give access to your site without sharing your own username and password.
I’m going to walk you through the steps to add a user to your Showit account, but first you should know that in order to add someone to access your Showit site – they must have their own Showit login.
1. Go To Your Showit Account Page
First, you’ll want to open your Showit Account page which you can find in the bottom left corner of the Showit app, then click Manage Account. You can also go directly to your account page with this link: account.showit.com/home
2. Add The Contributor’s Email Address
Along the top of your account page, click on Account and then scroll down to Contributor Access. You’ll see a list of any sites you have access to, or anyone you’ve given access to.
Remember that in order to share access with someone, they must have an active Showit account. Enter their email address in the box at the bottom of the page and click Share Design Access.
After you’ve submitted their email, the contributor will receive this email invitation letting them know they can now access your account.
How To Revoke Contributor Access With Showit
Once you’re ready to end someone’s access to your Showit account, you can delete them from by clicking the trash can icon (delete) in the Contributor Access section, next to the person’s name.
How To Access the Blog With Showit Contributor Access
In order to give access to your blog under the Advanced Blog plan, you’ll need to create a new login for the user in WordPress. To do this you’ll need to login to your WordPress account and navigate to Users in the left column.
Go to Add New User and enter the person’s name and email address. You can set their role as an Editor which will allow them to make most updates. An Administrator will be able to make all of the updates you can make, including adding plugins.
You can remove access at any time, or change the user’s level of access.
Basic Blog plans will be able to accessible with the contributor’s own Showit login and does not require you to add a new WordPress user.
How To Switch Between Showit Accounts
If you’ve been granted access as a contributor in Showit and you’re not sure how to access the other account from your own, click on the User Settings (bottom left) and you’ll see a dropdown menu that allows you to toggle between multiple accounts.
There’s no need to ever logout of your own Showit account, which makes updating other Showit websites super easy!
