Ever since I became a graphic designer, people have commented how I will be able to design my own wedding invitation one day when I get married. As tempting as it was to buy an already designed invitation set from Paper Source or Etsy – I couldn’t resist making my own.
All of the paper materials I used came from Paper Source, I was so thrilled with the quality! Here is what I used:
The cards all came with a square edge, which was fine, however I started playing around with a paper trimmer and decided I liked how the rounded corners looked!
For the design I used the script font Carolyna Pro Black which I purchased. I didn’t love the way the zip code on the address envelope looked with that font, so instead I used 5th Grade Cursive.
I knew that I wanted some unique stamps for our wedding invitations, but I was having a hard time finding anything I liked from USPS. I searched on Etsy and found a shop run by Laurie called Flowers by LJP. I was able to find these beautiful vintage stamps that were perfect for our wedding! Laurie was so incredibly nice and helpful – she even put together collections of stamps for me to choose from. It was my favorite part of the project!
The ribbon that wraps around the invite was purchased at Michaels and I secured it with a glue stick.
On the back I decided to use a self-inking stamp from Foryoo in a cute design, they were able to send me a proof almost instantly and I received the stamp very quickly!
I should mention that I used an HP Wireless Officejet 6500A printer – it was the BEST printer since it handled cardstock well, never jammed, and printed over 30 invites without ever having to change an ink cartridge!
Hi Casey:) I love your invitations!! I am having a rustic wedding with a little bit of Polynesian flavor mixed into it:) my wedding is next year July 3—–how do I print onto cards? I am so stuck and have no idea where to start??? Please help:)
Hi Jennifer! I started first by designing the layout myself. Print it out on regular printer paper before you waste printing on good paper. Your wedding theme sounds wonderful – good luck!
I’m wondering where I can find the font but cheaper. It seems $89 is a lot for a font. Also, i’m wondering how long is the shipping time from paper source?
Hi Mollie! I don’t think you will be able to find the font online any cheaper- sometimes MyFonts runs a sale. It’s a premium font so that’s why it’s that price – it was worth it for me because I could use it in my designs. You can check DaFonts.com they have a lot of nice free fonts! My Papaer Source order I think took less than a week to arrive!
I love your invites, you did a great job! Do you mind sharing what PMS color you used for your text? I am using the same paper for my invites, and wasn’t sure color font to use. Thank you!
Hi! I am using the same cursive font on my wedding invitations. I am stuck on finding a nice block font for all the other text. Which font did you pair with Carolyna Pro Black?

Thank you! I printed these at home so I didn’t use a PMS. The HEX for the brown text is #543B32 and for the pink text it’s #F2A391. Hope this helps!
One more question, how did you get the extra script on the “g” in Doug and the “a” in and? I have the font and its not coming out the same way.
Hi Barb! I used the glyphs option in Adobe Illustrator.

Thanks Misty! I used Bell as the other font:

You can pretty much use any type of serif font for a similar effect!
Hi,
Love your invitations!
Did you use a template? How did you know where to line up the font on your computer?
Thanks Stephanie!
I made the design in Adobe Illustrator. I’m a professional graphic designer so I am able to create the layout using Illustrator.
Love the invitations! Is there a certain website you print the map from?
Thank you! I hand drew the map myself based off of a local map we had.
Awesome, thanks!
