In the past I’ve talked about about a huge failure I had in business had when I took a maternity leave for one year and shut down my website.
What a mistake. 🙈
Believe it or not, this became part of my brand story.
You may think your brand’s story can only be about your triumphs, your success, your passion or your hopes and dreams.
But the most authentic brand stories dig deep and tell the truth about vulnerability, embarrassment, desperation or hopelessness. It makes them relatable to their followers.
Simple + honest.
You see, your branding goes beyond just a pretty logo.
It’s the truth about you.
I promise that your brand has a compelling story. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be where you are today.
Let’s begin defining your brand story by asking yourself these questions:
- What got you here today?
- What is it about you that makes you relatable?
- What is it about you that makes you unique?
- What do you think you have to offer people?
- What problems have you recently overcome?
Your brand story, like any other story will have a beginning, middle and ending (a happy ending, right!?)
Your Problem: Share what your problem was and what caused it.
Your Solution: Describe in detail what steps you took to solve it.
Your Result: Show excitement about how you overcame your problem and found success.
Focus on this three part model and let it become your brand story.
Tell it over and over again. Drill it into your follower’s heads until they have it memorized!
