As great as your product, service or blog may be, your logo may actually be hurting your business. Think about all of the opportunities you may be MISSING OUT on because of your logo.
I’ll tell you a real quick story about a client whose logo was turning readers off and how she came to me to help fix it.
My client had a logo designed by another designer back when she first started her blog and had a very small budget. Over the course of a few years her blog traffic was beginning to really grow and she was getting several opportunities for sponsorships. After a while her traffic stopped growing and so did her sponsorships. She had been wanting to change her blog logo (basically since she got her first logo) and came to me for a redesign.
After we rebranded her blog and created a media kit her sponsorships increased and her blog traffic began to explode!
It was all the result of rebranding her blog and creating a better logo.
Here are a few reasons why your logo might be hurting your business:
Can someone read your logo and instantly know the name of your business? If your logo isn’t perfectly clear it could be confusing to customers. Pretty fonts and calligraphy can make for some really gorgeous logos, but if the lettering is too hard to read then your logo isn’t doing it’s job.
When your business evolves, your logo needs to evolve with it. Say your business used to have a colorful and upbeat style, but now your business has grown into a more refined and mature style. Your logo needs to reflect that.
Being on trend can really boost your business, but it’s not always great for your logo. Trends come and go, right? Your logo shouldn’t be part of a trend that’s going to look dated in just a matter of months.
Inconsistent branding may be a sign of a floundering business. It’s ok to make minor tweaks to your logo now and then but constant drastic changes to your logo is bad for your business.
If any of these apply to you, then you should consider a rebrand by a professional designer.
Working with a professional branding designer is one way to create a better logo for your business. A branding designer will work with you to strategize and rebrand your business. A well designed and consistent brand will give your business the boost it needs. With more traffic and more opportunities, it will actually pay for itself!
If working with a professional designer is not in your budget right now, I totally get it! You might be able to find a college student studying design that has a really great eye for design and is willing to help you for a small fee.
