Resolutions – blah! I’ve never been a fan of New Year’s resolutions. This year however, I’ve found myself turning over a new leaf in time for the New Year. I don’t have any set resolutions – but just a new way of doing things that started sometime back in December.
no more procrastinating
I’m a hard worker by nature, but I can tend to put things off until I “feel ready”. Making the excuse that I’ll tend to something when I have more time to focus on it is just an excuse and I’m tired of it! My new way of living is to deal with things immediately – otherwise things pile up and I am not able to tackle it as quickly as I would if I just dealt with it as soon as it fell into my lap.
clear the clutter
Until December, my personal email account was filled with over 4,000 emails! Most of them were emails I’ve already read and about 99% of them were unimportant. I started by unsubscribing from everything I did not want in my mailbox (love those emails that allow you to get emails monthly or weekly instead of daily). I kept only the important emails and deleted everything! Now, as soon as I read emails I delete what I don’t need. On rare occasion I want to save an email and it gets put into a folder.
So far my new way of life has been working out well. I feel a little less overwhelmed and I also always know what’s going on with my finances, projects and appointments.
I think setting realistic personal goals is what works for me, and making small gradual changes.
Happy New Year and good luck with your resolutions for 2014!
